Build your Focus Timer with AI in under 5 minutes

Build a Pomodoro-style focus timer with configurable work / short-break / long-break intervals, session counter, audible end-of-cycle chime, and a session log persisted to localStorage — generated from a single prompt.

Build a classic Pomodoro timer. 25-minute work blocks, 5-minute short breaks, 15-minute long break after every 4 work blocks. Big mono-font countdown, Start / Pause / Reset buttons, current-cycle indicator (Work 1 / 4, Short Break, Work 2 / 4, etc.). End-of-cycle chime via Web Audio (no audio file). Persists today's completed-cycle count to localStorage.

Create a deep-work timer for writers. Single 90-minute block (no breaks), giant timer, distraction-free fullscreen layout, white-noise background loop via Web Audio (operator can swap the frequency). Saves total minutes focused per day to a 7-day bar chart on the page.

Design a study timer for students. Configurable work + break durations via inputs at the top, session goal slider (1-12 sessions), progress ring around the timer, end-of-session toast. Streak counter for consecutive days with at least one completed session — same convention as Duolingo.

Build a developer's focus timer with a Spotify-style minimal dark UI. 50-minute work + 10-minute break. Adds the active block label to document.title so it's readable in the browser tab while another window is focused. Keyboard shortcuts: Space starts/pauses, R resets.

Foire aux questions

How does the chime work without an audio file?
The end-of-cycle chime is synthesised in the browser via the Web Audio API (`new AudioContext().createOscillator()`) — no MP3 to host, no CORS to worry about. The pitch + envelope + duration are configurable at the top of `focus-timer.tsx`; default is a 880Hz sine wave at 0.4s with a gentle fade-out.
Where does session history get saved?
localStorage under `focus-timer:v1` — today's completed-cycle count, total minutes focused, and the running streak. No server, no account. Open the page on a different device and you start fresh; refine with 'sync via a Postgres table keyed on a user_id cookie' for cross-device continuity.
Can I change the work / break durations?
The default 25 / 5 / 15 minute split is configurable via constants at the top of `focus-timer.tsx`. Refining with 'expose work / short / long break durations as visible input fields on the page' adds them to the UI as numeric inputs the user can adjust without touching the source.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes — the countdown is driven by a `requestAnimationFrame` loop that compares against `performance.now()` rather than incrementing a JS counter. Browser tab throttling can slow the loop, but the timer still resolves to the correct end time when the tab comes back to the foreground.
Will my computer go to sleep mid-session?
Browsers don't prevent system sleep on their own. Refine into the chat with 'request a wake lock when the timer is running via the Screen Wake Lock API' to keep the display awake while a session is active. Falls back gracefully on browsers without the API.
Can I customize the end-of-session notification?
Yes — the template ships with the synthesised chime, a toast, and an update to `document.title`. Refining with 'also fire a browser Notification when a work block ends, after requesting permission once' wires up the Notification API for desktop badges.
Is there an app or just the web version?
Just the web version. The page is a single static React route, so installing as a PWA on iOS / Android / desktop works out of the box (Share → Add to Home Screen). Refine with 'add a manifest.json + service worker so it installs as a PWA' if you want a custom icon and offline support.
